Looking for a Book…..

For the past few weeks I have been searching for one of Iain Rice’s books, Creating Cameo Layouts. I have had absolutely no luck locating a used copy as I’m sure all the new copies have been sold many years ago. if anyone knows where to find a copy, please let me know.

Thank you!

What is P48?

A fair question to ask for the new modeler, really anyone unfamiliar with O scale. Proto48, P48 for short, is a question about gauge and scale wheel tread. Proto48 uses the exact standard gauge distance (4’ 8 1/2”) between the rail head. Standard O scale use 5 scale feet, or one and a quarter inches. I suspect this was done when O scale was developed so the modeler could easily measure the space between the rail heads. If you are interested in learning more about Proto48, I encourage you to check out the Proto48 website.

Next up is to make several barn and outbuilding mock ups. I’m not sure if I will use the Wiley Station building or so,etching else at the moment, but I do want to use the barn and the outbuilding to its left in the scene to give the viewer (and me) the feeling of mid 20th Century rural America and set the stage for a small short line serving local communities.
